Elements of great interest within the city of Alatri are: -the well conserved wall of polygonal opera which closes the internal residence with it’s superb acropolis of the Mediterranean area. The last mentioned being a trapezius form presents two access doors of great architectural interest. Porta Maggiore and Porta Minore(major door and minor door). In the 10th century the cathedral of S. Paolo (S.Paul) was built on the summit, enlarged and transformed over the centuries. The present appearance dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Within the interior relics of a mircle from 1227 are well looked after, they are: -an incarnated host and a clock belonging to
  S.Francesco of Assisi. The church of S.Maria Maggiore in the center of the town gives an excellent example of Romanesque-ogival, it has a splendid rose-window fretwork on the principal outer facing and on the inner a wooden statue of the Madonna of Costantinopolis and the triptych of Antonio (Anthony) of Alatri.
One of the oldest frescos and programs of the cript of the church of S.Michele of Arcangelo, the frescos and the church aisles are decorated with frescos from the 15th century: Also particulary interesting are the frescos belonging to the church and the cript of S.Silvestro (S.Silvester),one of the oldest churches of the city (XI). Along the road that leads to Veroli you will find the rural abbey of S.Sebastiano (S.Sebastian) of the XII century with the aisles and the faces completely covered with frescos. The church of the Maddalena situated about 3kms from the centre of the town is a small chapel well conserved belonging to the XIII century.
  The walls are nearly completely decorated and with a homogeneity style that focuses on the name of the only Maestro called “Maestro della Madonna of S. Leonardo”. Other important frescos also within the Chapel of the Sanità del Maestro of the Madonna of Alvito. The same maestro painted frescos in the convent of the Calvariane and the church of S.Francesco. A typical castle and Gottifredo palace belonging to the medieval era and today hosts a civic museum. On the outskirts emerges through green meadows the “Grancia of Tecchiena” (the Castle of Tecchiena) an ancient castle transformed during the X111 century into an agricultural farm by the Carthusian monks in Trisulti in which belonged to them. Representing the stories of S. Lorenzo (S. Lawrence) and the figures of the saints.
