| On the outskirts of Collepardo another famous abbey can be found called “La Certosa di Trisulti” wanted by Innocenzo 111 and constructed by the monks of the “Certosini” in 1204 in a beautiful location within the splendid isolation. The architecture was changed and over the centuries, assuming that the actual aspect occurred in the 17th century. Facing the square is the building of Innocenzo 111 and the church of S. Bartolomeo which presents original characteristics of the Romanesque Gothic construction. Valuable works in wood are kept in the capital hall. Throughout all the buildings the most interesting is the scientific pharmacy characterized | ![]() |

In the so called living room of Balbi you can admire a beautiful pictorial decoration of the Napoleon Pietro Balbi who worked at Trisulti from 1857 to 1865. Preceding the pharmacy is a gracious garden where medicinal herbs are cultivated. In the nearby distillery at Certosa the monks sell infusions and honey apart from liquor and distilled products, all made by them. |

The “Abbazia of Casamari” (Abbey of Casamari) reserves itself many emotions, one of the most beautiful in all of Italy. There is a particular atmosphere around the abbey apart from it’s artistic beauty. Founded by the Benedictines the superior part of “Villa di Caio Maio” was reconstructed by the Cistercians. Casamari is an enchanting complex built in rose-stone with refined decorations, established as being one of the first examples of Gothic-Cistercian styles in all of Italy. From the cloister surrounded by a series of elegant columns in pairs the hall “la Sala Capitolare” can be reached. With rows of smaller columns which wind the pillars in a harmonious purity of style. Through-out the various |
